Term 4 – 2023: Working from the Life Model with Jenny Pollak

Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School 1A Clara Street, Erskineville, NSW

Sundays: 15 October - 10 December 2023 (9 weeks)

$780.30 (Earlybird)
$865.30 (General)

“Although the body has been a constant and persistent subject of human expression, the various ways in which we choose to represent the human body continues to evolve. As a teacher I am interested in guiding students towards a deeper expression of their sculptural practice as they interpret the human body, my main interest being to encourage them in developing a personal sculptural language.” – Jenny Pollak

This workshop will guide both the beginner and the more experienced artist through the process involved in working with clay from the life model. Over the course of 9 weeks students will be supported to develop their skills in observation, modelling and interpretation. Students will be encouraged to develop a more personal language or means of expression by learning to look with intention and push their work beyond a merely faithful representation of the body. This exploration will be augmented by looking at the work of the great sculptors past and present. Drawing will also be used as a warm up exercise on the first day.
