Margo Hoekstra
Biographical Statement
Margo Hoekstra started studying with Tom Bass in 1983. She assisted Tom Bass with teaching and on multiple commissions from mid 1980’s till 2009.
In 2008 she had a breakthrough in her work which lead to a new form of expression which she continues to evolve. This has included further exploration of colour in sculpture.
Arts Management
Since its incorporation in 2003, Margo has been the Chairperson of the Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School Inc. (TBSSS). She has managed the studio school in an honorary capacity since and is the driving force behind their program development.
In 2005-06 she conceived and managed the Tom Bass Retrospective 2006 held at the Sydney Opera House.
Margo makes sculpture at the Tom Bass Sculpture Studio and is represented by them.

Exhibitions
Margo has exhibited at numerous Annual Student Exhibitions at the Tom bass Sculpture School and since the late 1990’s to present with Defiance Gallery, Newtown NSW in the 6” Exhibition, at their first and subsequent shows. Some of her more recent work was exhibited in the 2009 exhibition in Feb- April, the 8Sculptors, and various other group exhibition at The Exhibition Space. In 2011 she exhibited in a group exhibition with ArtSite in Camperdown.
